ALEX EAGLE X NO. EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION For 'The Store' Soho House by Romy Northover

Premier glass collection and custom ceramics 'CRUSH CUPS' collection are now available exclusively at ALEX EAGLE Walton St London and THE FARMHOUSE - THE STORE X SOHO HOUSE

The core concept for the collection is that the pieces becomes more beautiful for having been broken/manipulated - That something becomes more appealing for having been through a process. This makes the piece unique and individual, and is a feeling that will grow with use.

When I met with Alex Eagle to discuss the design we visited a show that was on at Paul Kasmin Gallery NYC, where we saw the exquisite surfaces of Brancusi and Donald Judd sculptures - that fed into the design inspiration. The cups are made using English Porcelain and the gold cups are fired an additional time with a 'Premium 22 Karat Gold Lustre'. Gold lustre is used in traditional European Ceramics and tea sets for detail. But with these cups we modernised it by using the lustre over the entire piece - There is something so compelling about the ultra shiny surface giving these organic forms a super luxe finish.

Inspirations: John Chamberlain, Constanti Brancusi, Donald Judd, Carlo Scarpa, Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy, Natural elements and materials.

BUSY DOING nothing

Nothing will ever be as valuable as time is. its is out most modern indulgence. The one Right in front of us but the hardest to obtain. Sometimes the best thing you can do with your time is absolutely nothing. Decadence is now weekends going off the grid, folding away screens and powering off. What could be more expensive than sundays of downtime that have no direction but to escape from it all and hit refresh?

Interpreting Ceramics - NO. X Caroline Denervaud by Romy Northover

This collaboration with Caroline Denervaud expresses a feeling. For me ceramics in its entirity runs so deep, on a visceral level, it is not simply about the end product. It is integral, so much so that is difficult to express through words. When I came across Paris based artist Caroline's work I instantly felt a connection to her Beautiful and lyrical work for it's form, space and emotional significance.

Caroline has interpreted my ceramics through movement and emotion - shamanic & ritualistic to covey an essential feeling.

Below are a selection of three our collaborative works...

I will be posting a few more in a second post.

The renewed glamour of pots is reflected in a piece celebrating the work of a band of cutting-edge “ceramists” in American Vogue. Among the featured artists is Brit Romy Northover, a graduate of Goldsmiths in London who has studied Japanese pottery in Manhattan and now works with Calvin Klein.

“It’s an inexhaustible medium,” Northover told the magazine.
