PHILOSOPHY OF NO.
The No. brand with an 'Ancient Future' ethos which in many ways means respecting the past, but finding a new an timeless designs that are still relevant in the future as the past. Influenced equally by the primitive and the refined, the focus comes from sensation, both in the physical tactile sense but also on an emotional level. With the aim to create a piece that could be pasted down to generations.
WHY RUGS
Rug design in relation to ceramics. The tactile quality of fabrics and fibers - handmade ancient craft that I feel work in relationship to each other they both indicate a tradition that has been worked with since very early civilisation.
Phyilosophy of the Rug Company to understand the heritage of ancient traditional methods, each rug being made by hand follows similar principles I use when creating ceramics. With rug making I see rich potential for depth, texture through heart and hand felt manufacturing.
The proposed design for a rug is directly inspired by a similar understanding and through my relationship with clay, the process, the sensations, the natural qualities and variations of the materials. Finding inspiration in the natural and sensual work. The natural movement and the echos of the physical bodily relation of weaving itself. The non visible magic of a hand made piece.
